26 cars, 37 Adults and 7 children arrived at Commons Hotel, Blackpool to join our drive. It was a great turn out considering it was All Ireland Football Final Day. Waterford, Tipperary, Kerry and Cork were represented. We had a great selection of Porsches with 997 Turbo, 964 Turbo, 930 Turbo, 944 Turbo, 996C4S, Boxter, 964 C4, 964 Targa, 911Sc, 911 2.7, 911 2.4 Targa, 911 2.4 and 944 2.5 16 Valve.

We were delighted to see [name removed] and [name removed] for 1st time in their recently purchased 944 Carrera 4 and Brian Cotter from Waterford in his 2.4S. We travelled to Blarney and on to Griffins Garden centre Dripsey for morning coffee. Afterwards we went to Coachford and on to the Famous Farnanes Hill Climb to Crookstown and Michael Collins Ambush site at Beal Na Blath where I gave a brief history of the circumstances leading up to the ambush, subsequent events and death of Michael Collins. We then travelled on to Clonakilty for lunch at Quality Hotel.

Due to time restrictions after lunch we were unable to do a circuit of Munster 100 road race circuit and we went direct to Dr Vernon Seiferts home at Lettercullen House to see his collection of Jaguars. He has a XK 120, 150 and 160, E Type 4.2 Coupe, E Type 5.2 V12 Convertible. 2.4 S, Aston Martin DB6, TVR 5.0 Chimera, Original Lotus 7 Twin cam and a fully restores David Brown tractor. All the cars are in full running order taxed and insured. These were presented to us by his Kinsale based mechanic Damien Bowles who maintains his fleet. His garage is the envy of anybody with a passion for cars. Mrs Seifert then invited us to her cellar bar for refreshments.

Dr Seifert also has a world famous recording studio on the grounds where famous artists come to record. Bill Cashman and myself presented Mrs Seifert with a piece of Cork Crystal and a framed Nurburgring 1000Km Race poster from 1954 to commerate Porsche Club Irelands visit to Lettercullen. We then travelled home . A Big thanks to Dr and Mrs Seifert and Damien Bowles for the invitation. It was a wonderful day and great to see so many children who hopefully will be future Porsche owners enjoying themselves.

Our next outing will be a Porsche Open day at Viaduct Bar , Bandon Road, Cork on Saturday 15th October at 1PM. Full details will be posted on the Events section.
